English as an Additional Language/ Dialect (EALD)
At our school, we celebrate a rich tapestry of cultures and languages, with many students speaking a language other than English at home. To support these students in their educational journey, we offer dedicated EALD classes at each year level. EALD students attend a timetabled line of EALD with qualified EALD teachers.
Every effort is made to help students access the mainstream English curriculum. This is achieved through smaller class sizes, individualised support, and instruction paced to meet students’ language learning needs. These classes are designed for students who have recently arrived in Australia or those who require additional support to develop their English language proficiency.
Our EALD program focuses on:
- Language Development: Strengthening students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English.
- Curriculum Access: Equipping students with the language skills needed to engage confidently with the Australian Curriculum.
- Cultural Inclusion: Fostering a welcoming environment that respects and values the diverse cultural backgrounds of our students.
Through targeted instruction and a supportive learning environment, we aim to empower EALD students to achieve academic success and fully participate in school life.
