Food Technology

FOOD CLASSES

Our Food Technology classes offer students hands-on opportunities to explore the science, creativity, and cultural significance of food, contributing meaningfully to their holistic development. Through engaging, practical lessons, students gain essential life skills such as meal planning, nutrition awareness, food safety, and cooking techniques. These classes foster critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving, while also encouraging healthy lifestyle choices and sustainability awareness. By integrating scientific understanding with creativity and real-world application, Food Technology supports personal growth, wellbeing, and confidence—key components of a well-rounded education.

Our Food Technology program is structured to engage students at various stages of their secondary education. In Years 7 and 8, students experience Food Technology as part of the electives rotation, where they are introduced to foundational cooking skills, kitchen safety, and basic nutrition through fun, hands-on activities. As students progress to Years 9 and 10, they have the opportunity to specialise in areas of interest by choosing from a range of exciting electives: International Cuisine, where they explore flavours and cooking techniques from around the world; Creative Cooking, which encourages innovation and presentation; Introduction to Catering, offering insight into the hospitality industry and event planning; and Teen Cuisine, focusing on practical, healthy meals tailored to a teenager's lifestyle. Each course is designed to develop independence, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for food as a vital part of everyday life.
