PANTHERS is a sports leadership program for boys in Years 9 & 10. The core elements of this program have been successfully piloted at other ACT high schools since 2005 and it has run at ADHS since 2008.

The areas of focus for PANTHERS include:

  • curriculum
  • role modelling - teachers and adults mentoring students and older students mentoring younger students
  • engagement through sport (using the ethos of a team all working together)
  • connecting with the community

There is also a focus on setting short and long term goals and achieving your personal best in all areas of life. Students attend several leadership camps throughout the year, including a four day City to Surf camp in August.

The ELEMENTS program provides an opportunity for girls to develop leadership and personal development through sport. This program includes theory and practical lessons with an emphasis on leadership, teamwork and overall health and wellbeing. Students participate in activities such as interactive workshops, team building, community service, sport, health and fitness. The ELEMENTS participate in major events such as the Cancer Councils 'Relay for Life', the 'City2Sea' 15km fun run in Melbourne and a girls AFL program with community coaches. This program provides a foundation for students to build self-confidence and leadership through a range of sporting and educational opportunities.
